Lauren's father, Lawrence, is the President of the Chocolate Manufacturer's Association. Her mother, Donna, left her family when Lauren was 5 to pursue a singing career. Lauren's father had to teach her all about the wonders of women-hood on his own. He became the most important thing in Lauren's life. As a young girl, her and her father traveled around the country.
As she grew up, she got more involved in drama. Acting in school and theater productions were something of a comfort for her. As an English major at Barnard, she decided to pass on the waitress route to acting and went straight to drama grad school at Dallas' SMU. After struggling as an aspiring actress, Lauren moved to Hollywood in 1995. She got tons of guest star roles and near breaks. Graham's first feature film was the Miramax thriller "Nightwatch", starring Patricia Arquette and Ewan McGregor. She also played Renee Zellweger's best friend and confidante in the Meryl Streep drama "One True Thing."
In the year 2001, Lauren has a lot to be thankful for. All her hardwork and determination has gotten her the role of a character Lauren has learned to love and respect. She now plays Lorelai Gilmore on the new WB hit "Gilmore Girls." With impressing reviews and ratings the show is beginning its second season. Lauren has been acknowledged by SAG(Screen Actors Guild) with a nomination for Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series. She got rave reviews and some fans were lucky enough to even meet Ms. Graham. Lauren was nominated for a Golden Globe nomination in early 2002 as well as a second SAG award. "Gilmore Girls" was named T.V. Guide's "Best Show You're Not Watching" and Lauren(with Alexis Bledel) graced the cover.
An actress who has everything handed to them usually becomes vain and inconsiderable to the world of acting. Lauren Graham beholds NONE of those qualities. Lauren looks at her career and is thankful for what she has. From a little girl, her life was not easy. Growing up was even harder for a young woman. She has reached a peak in her life where all those things have added to her success. They have made a stronger person. The person her fans have come to grow upon. The person her fans look up to. The person who is original and one of kind. Lauren Graham.
