Biography

Lauren was born on March 16th, 1967 in Honolulu Hawaii. As a young girl she had a very tough time dealing with parental problems. Lauren's father, Lawrence, is the President of the Chocolate Manufacturer's Association. Her mother, Donna, left her family when Lauren was 5 to pursue a singing career. Lauren's father had to teach her all about the wonders of women-hood on his own. He became the most important thing in Lauren's life. As a young girl, her and her father traveled around the country.

As she grew up, she got more involved in drama. Acting in school and theater productions were something of a comfort for her. As an English major at Barnard, she decided to pass on the waitress route to acting and went straight to drama grad school at Dallas' SMU. After struggling as an aspiring actress, Lauren moved to Hollywood in 1995. She got tons of guest star roles and near breaks. She's better known for her appearances on "Caroline In The City", "NewsRadio", and "Law and Order." In addition, Graham guest-starred on "Seinfeld" and "Third Rock From the Sun." Lauren got full-time roles on short lived but entertaining television shows including "Townies"(with Jenna Elfman and Molly Ringwald), "Good Company", "Conrad Bloom", and the recently cancelled "M.Y.O.B. ."

Lauren has hit the big screen as well. She can be seen as Keanu Reeves' girlfriend in the Warner Bros. feature "Sweet November". She recently starred in the independent film "Dill Scallion", which debuted on VH-1 this July. The film is a mockumentary on the world of country music in which Graham had very big hair. Graham's first feature film was the Miramax thriller "Nightwatch", starring Patricia Arquette and Ewan McGregor. She also played Renee Zellweger's best friend and confidante in the Meryl Streep drama "One True Thing."

In the year 2001, Lauren has a lot to be thankful for. All her hardwork and determination has gotten her the role of a character Lauren has learned to love and respect. She now plays Lorelai Gilmore on the new WB hit "Gilmore Girls." With impressing reviews and ratings the show is beginning its second season. Lauren has been acknowledged by SAG(Screen Actors Guild) with a nomination for Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series. The critics raved about Lauren's Emmy award winning performance in every episode of "Gilmore Girls" but Lauren was soon denied by the Emmys for a nomination this year.

Lauren has accomplished herself even more in 2002. She decided to stretch her acting chops to theatre and participated in the Williamstown Theatre Festival. She got rave reviews and some fans were lucky enough to even meet Ms. Graham. Lauren was nominated for a Golden Globe nomination in early 2002 as well as a second SAG award. "Gilmore Girls" was named T.V. Guide's "Best Show You're Not Watching" and Lauren(with Alexis Bledel) graced the cover.

An actress who has everything handed to them usually becomes vain and inconsiderable to the world of acting. Lauren Graham beholds NONE of those qualities. Lauren looks at her career and is thankful for what she has. From a little girl, her life was not easy. Growing up was even harder for a young woman. She has reached a peak in her life where all those things have added to her success. They have made a stronger person. The person her fans have come to grow upon. The person her fans look up to. The person who is original and one of kind. Lauren Graham.
